Allison Cara Tolman (born April 2, 1985) was an American actor from the United States. Best known as Molly Solverson from the FX television series Fargo in its first season, she has received nominations for Emmys & Golden Globes. Tolman is a native of New York. She has two older and one younger brother. In the early months of her life, Tolman's family relocated to England. They stayed there until she was four years old. Then she spent the next five seasons in Oklahoma before moving to Sugar Land. The first time she took acting classes was at age 10 old in the Fort Bend Community Theatre. Clements High School was her high school, and she graduated in 2000. Baylor University has awarded her with a bachelor degree in Fine Arts in Dramatic Performance. In Dallas, after graduating from college, she joined one of the founding members of Second Thought Theatre. Then, in Chicago Illinois she began studying performance in The Second City Training Center in 2009. Tolman began her career in 2014. She starred on the FX criminal comedy Fargo's initial season. Fargo is a 1996 Coen Brothers movie, featured Billy Bob Thornton (as Molly Solverson), Martin Freeman (as Bob Odenkirk) and Bob Odenkirk. Tolman was recognized for her role as Minnesota the Police officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair said that Tolman "calmly, assuredly stole" the show. Tolman was praised for her character. She was awarded the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie/Miniseries and also received Best Actress nominations at the Emmy Awards and for the Golden Globes. Tolman's role as a guest on The Mindy Project as romance writer Abby Berman for two episodes, was announced the same. The year 2015 was the last time she had a supporting role in Michael Dougherty's comedy-horror film Krampus. Following her breakout role in Fargo, Tolman declined several supporting parts as mothers, wives and best friends in search of a more unusual role. Tolman's performance in 2017 on ABC Downward Dog was based upon the Animal Media Group Web Series. After one season it was canceled.
